Divisibility Rule for 8

Divisibility Rule of 8:This rule is used to check whether a number is divisible by 8 or not without performing long division. The rule states that if the last three digit of a number are divisible by 8 then the number is divisible by 8.

Illustration: Check whether 2104 is divisible by 8?

Solution: To check whether 2104 is divisible by 8. we will considered the last three digits that is 104. As 104 is divisible by 8 so numbner is divisible by 8.

Illustration: Check whether 2104 is divisible by 8?

Solution: To check whether 4216 is divisible by 8. we will considered the last three digits that is 416. As 416 is divisible by 8 so numbner is divisible by 8.

Moreover any number in which the number formed by the digits at units, tens and hundreds place ( i.e. last 3 digits) as 216. For example, 9216, 8216, 7216, 10216, 9995216 etc. will be divisible by 8.

Thus for a number with 4 or more digits to be divisble by 8, only if the number formed by the last three digits is divisible by 8.

The divisibility for numbers with 1, 2 or 3 digits by 8 has to be checked by actual division.
